Abstract: In order to solve the retainingroadway roof severe subsidence problems in the mining of HuangBaiCi mine close lower coal seam 1016 face, the paper used theoretical analysis and numerical simulation study upper seam floor failure depth and rock pressure of "left lane" in the process of 1016 face mining. The results showed that, since the distance between two layers of coal is very small, resulting in lower seam roadway self –supporting capacity was low. After 1016 face mining, the auxiliary inlet pressure increased, when it exceed the supporting intensity the roof would happen to sink. Using two DZ28-100 type single pillar to intensive support each row “U” shaped steel shed control the roadway deformation effectively.
